MailScanner seems to be skipping messages

Im running 4.81.4 with sendmail.

I'm starting to see messages not going through MailScanner, is there any
scenario you guys would think would cause a message to not be scanned. This
is something that is sporadic.

Maillogs dont show any entries for these message IDs, which in the past may
have been attributed to cached scoring. But I'm not seeing the MailScanner
header inserts at all.

Do the received lines show th as t the MailScanner system is involved at
all?
Do you have any ruleset on Scan Messages?

Cheers!

Glenn,
None at all to your first question. And the settings is set to just "Yes"
on that setting.
just sendmail receives and then relays it no MS involvement at all even
though there are instances of MS running. These are high volume systems.
Would sendmail not being started from the MailScanner init.d cause
something like this?

I’ve seen cases where an update to sendmail would set it to start at boot time, so you end up with both MailScanner running as well as non-MailScanner related instances of sendmail. I’d stop all instances, do a chkconfig (or distro specific equivalent) to make sure that sendmail isn’t being started by the system. If it is, set it not to. The MailScanner init script starts sendmail with the appropriate arguments, of course.

It may not be that at all – but it’s where I’d look first
